Flaming Fall Foliage Fund Raiser
Each year the Lions Club helps out with the Flaming Fall Foliage Relay Race, as a fund-raiser for the club.
Preparations for the race started at 3:30 am. Here Lions Anne and Carolyn check in some of the first racers.
The racers kept coming, and Lions Anne and Carolyn kept checking them in. It's chilly up here in the mountains.
Of course, you can't have a race without a tee-shirt. Check-ins continue past dawn.
...and the racers are off!

2017 International Convention
The Idaho Springs Lions Club was represented at the International Convention in Chicago.
Lion President Mary and Lion Barb led the charge.
Our district was there in force, marching in the parade...
... including our Lion President Mary.
It was truly an international event!
And it was clearly taking place in Chicago, as an "El" came over the parade.

Scholarship Award
Lions Club Treasurer Jeff Norton presents the Lions Club Eugene Kiefer Memorial Scholarship to Zachary Schell at the Clear Creek High School Awards Assembly.
Zach won the $1500 scholarship in a competition with many very qualified applicants. Zach plans to study Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University.
Gene Kiefer was a long-time resident of Idaho Springs, and a founding member of the Idaho Springs Lions Club in 1952. He served the community in many ways, including as Sheriff. Perhaps the most important of his priorities was helping the youth in Clear Creek County, so the Lions Club offers this scholarship each year in his honor.
