Dynamite Days

Dynamite Days is the annual fair for the city of Idaho Springs.

At the event, the Lions Club set up a booth to publicize our activities and services to the community:

Lions Carolyn, Mary, Annie, Carla, and Barb opened the booth:

No doubt that this was the Lions' show:

Attendance at the booth was strong all day:

The club gave away surplus reading glasses. These helped illustrate our services for vision. Lions Carolyn, Mary, Barb, and Jim help staff the later afternoon:

The club also gave away children' books that had been donated. These helped illustrate our services for literacy:

Flaming Fall Foliage Fund Raiser

As a fund-raiser, the club helps support the Flaming Fall Foliage Relay Race, which runs 168 miles from Idaho Springs to Buena Vista.

Set up is at 3:30 am in Idaho Springs, so we can be ready when the first teams of runners arrive at 4:00 am.:

PDG Jack checks the teams in:

Lion Carolyn hands out the T-Shirts:

A bit later, Lion Jeff mans the first relay station, where runners hand off to team-mates:

Yet further down the road, Lions Laura and Sandy man another exchange point:

Runner teams await the arrival of their runner at the exchange location:

Lion Sandy can attest that the work is quite hard:

At least there is spectacular scenery and the company of wildlife at the exchange points:

At another exchange yet further up the road, Lions Mary and Barb help out:
