 The club got together with a dinner at Tommyknockers for friendship, and to celebrate a great year-- new members, new projects, and almost 1,000 hours of service.

Flags for Veterans Day

The club hangs flags on businesses in town for holidays. the businesses contribute to our scholarship fund for a graduating senior at the local high school.

Recycling Used Eyeglasses

 Our club participates in the Lions collection of, and worldwide recycling of, used eyeglasses.

We met to sort them into prescription glasses, reading glasses, and specialty glasses. That facilitates moving them through the various recycling programs.

...and, of course we had some fun in the process.

Peace Poster Contest

Lion Lisa Cassidy, one of our newest Idaho Springs Lions, stepped up to coordinate this year’s Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest with Audrey Goodman, art teacher at King-Murphy Mountain School in Evergreen.

This annual LCI program has inspired millions of students in over 200 countries for more than 35 years. It encourages young people to express their vision of peace through creativity, imagination, and art—helping them understand that peace begins with each of us.

This year’s theme, “Together As One,” sparked incredible creativity among the 31 students who participated. Their artwork reflected unity, compassion, and global connection. Judges said choosing winners was extremely difficult!

Touch-A-Truck

 The community sponsored its annual Touch-A-Truck event, where children could get up in really big trucks. At the event, the Lions Club handed out free books for children 5 years old and younger.

Flaming Foliage Relay Race

Every Fall, there is a Flaming Foliage Relay Race,  a foot race starting in Idaho Springs and ending 165 miles later in Buena Vista-- after having crossed the Continental Divide 3 times. Being a relay race, there are quite a few "Exchange" places, where one runner takes over from another. The race organizers need people to staff these Exchanges. The Lions Club offers members to volunteer to manage the Exchanges, and in turn, the race organizers donate substantially to the club. So it works out as a good fund-raiser for the club.

The race starts pre-dawn, with the first runners departing at 5:00am. But by that time some of the volunteers had already been on the job for an hour and a half.

Annual Picnic

The club held its annual picnic at Courtney-Ryley-Cooper park.

At the picnic were PDG Bob Storrs, 1st VDG Steve Allen, DG Carol Young, Lions Michael, Liz, Mike, Will, Jim Lisa, Mary, Jeff, visitor Linda, and Lion Barb.

Block Party

 Idaho Springs put on a Block Party for all local residents. They invited non-profits to participate.

The Lions Club had a table and tent. We partnered with the Fire Department to educate people about fire safety, including preparedness. The Fire Department had "Go Bags" for things that would be needed for an immediate evacuation; these were handed out to visitors  to our booth.

It also provided some good publicity for the Lions Club.

Christmas in July

 The Lions Club participated in a fund-raiser by selling food, much of which had been donated.

Providing Meals at Ronald McDonald House

 Our club joined the Nederland Lions Club to provide a dinner meal for the people staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Denver-- in support of those impacted by childhood cancer.

Lions Bob, Mike and Eric participated, as did their wives Vickie and Cindi.
