Health Fair

Every year for decades, the Lions Club has led the annual Health Fair in Idaho Springs. Originally this had been organized by Channel 9 television station, but now it is a separate organization.

For the last couple of years we were not able to hold the health fair, largely due to the pandemic. This year, we were delighted to be able to hold the event once again.

This year, we had support from many organizations:

Face-to-Face Meetings Are Back!

We had our first face-to-face meeting that we have had since the pandemic started over two years ago. It was good to see people again!

We had breakfast at Marion's of the Rockies. Einar Jensen from the South Metro Fire District gave a very informative talk about preparing for wildfires-- a topic that is so important where we live.

Sorting Eyeglasses for Recycling

Clubs all over the district have been collecting used and discarded eyeglasses. These eyeglasses can be recycled for people who need prescription glasses, but cannot afford them.

The Idaho Springs club collects them around town, as most clubs do. Furthermore, our club also collects lost and abandoned glasses at several of the casinos in Blackhawk. So we make a large contribution to the overall district effort.

People from all over the district are getting together to sort the glasses, to get them ready for the recycling.
