Each year, the Lions Club sponsors a health fair in town. People can register online, or just walk in. They can get low-cost blood tests, free screenings in a number of health areas, and in-depth information about many health topics.
This year, the Lions partnered with the Rotary Club to provide volunteers. All-in-all, fourteen Lions and Lions family members participated.
Lions Mike and Vicki, and two of their family, help with the registration for people who signed up online:
Project Support put on its annual holiday fund raiser at the Senior Center, with to hot chocolate and caroling. Lion Annie represented the Lions Club in helping out.
The weather outside was windy cold, but inside project support’s holiday fundraiser was delightful with good Cheer and songs from the Evergreen Children's Chorale warming our hearts!
Decades ago, the Lions Club created a playground in town. It has been updated and renovated from time-to-time, jointly with the city. Here Lion Annie shows off some new publicity posted at the playground.
We have been able to get back on our regular schedule. We screen several hundred pre-schoolers at public and private schools and day-care centers in 3 counties nearby.
It takes interaction with the kids, so it is fun as well as very worthwhile.
As a fund raiser each year, the Lions Club helps with the Fall Foliage Relay Race, which runs from Idaho Springs to Buena Vista.
We help set up, at 3:30 am. Lion Jim checks runners in.
Each year, the Idaho Springs Lions club holds a picnic. Not only is this a time for members and families to enjoy each other's company, but it is an opportunity for the formal processes of installing new members and officers of the club.
This year, the picnic was held at Courtney-Riley-Cooper Park in town.
Of course, a picnic has to have some good food.
