Flying Flags

The Idaho Springs Lions Club has a program for the city. We hang flags in front of stores on the main streets of town for each holiday during the year. The stores along the street contribute, to have a flag flown in front of their store. This way, it becomes a fund-raising venture for the club, funding a scholarship at the local high school.

Flying the flags is an outdoor activity, so we were able to continue the tradition even through the Pandemic.

Virtual Meetings

 Because of the pandemic, we have had to hold our meetings virtually. However, we have been able to continue many of our service projects.

Flags

On holidays, the club hags flags along the city's two main streets. Businesses contribute, to have a flag hung on their storefront. The contributions fund an annual scholarship for a high school senior.

Annual Picnic

 The club has been meeting online, but we decided to try an in-person gathering for our annual picnic.

Each person brought their own food. We practiced the recommended social distancing as best we could.

It was good to be able to see each other.

Keeping Going During Pandemic

Our club has been faced with the same obstacles that every other club has faced. We have been able to maintain some of our projects, such as of hanging flags around town on holidays. We have also  been able to take on a few new projects, including food distribution. Our meetings became online virtual meetings.

KidSight

Every Fall, the club screens the vision of preschoolers in our area. This year, between November 14 and December 12, we screened the vision of 341 children.

Dynamite Days

Dynamite Days is the annual fair for the city of Idaho Springs.

At the event, the Lions Club set up a booth to publicize our activities and services to the community:
